HEALTH EDUCATION

1 Lifestyle and quality of life

The pupils

1 adopt a critical attitude towards their nutritional pattern and are willing to adapt it, taking account of criteria for balanced nutrition within various nutritional systems;

2 name risk factors for eating disorders and the consequences thereof;

3 can help others in need by doing first aid and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR);

4 discuss ideas about medical, psychological and social aspects of family planning, pregnancy and termination of pregnancy;

5 pay attention to social phenomena such as divorce, one parent families, suicide, prostitution, abuse of stimulants and medicines, delinquent behaviour and the spread of AIDS;

6 deal with joy, loss and mourning in an appropriate way and learn from their experiences;

7 acquire an insight into the structures and policy that support healthcare and welfare;

8 participate in the health and safety policy at school and in their close environment.

2 Ethics of care

The pupils

9 take care of themselves and others whilst taking account of themes such as youth policy, age, social deprivation and handicaps;

10 show respect for themselves and others such as persons of another sexual orientation, people from other ethnical groups, from other cultures and with other beliefs and convictions;

11 identify in themselves and in others signals of various types of pressure by their partner and social pressure and fanaticism, discrimination and intolerance and duly respond to them.
