Final objectives of the third grade of mainstream secondary education - KSOMATHEMATICS1 General final objectivesThe pupils are able to: 1 analyse mathematical information, represent it in diagrams and structure it; 2 make use of mathematical techniques such as drawing figures and tables; 3 use ICT in a practical way to solve problems; 4 when solving a question:
5 correctly use and apply mathematical rules and conventions; 6 explain choices regarding methods of representation and the procedures used; 7 give examples of the use of mathematics in other subject areas and in society. The pupils: 8 * are critical about the results produced; 9 * are prepared to modify their learning process on the basis of reflecting about the way in which they solve mathematical problems and acquire and process mathematical information. 2 Realistic functions and algebraThe pupils are able to: 10 read off the characteristics of graphs, if necessary, supplemented with tables, such as periodicity, symmetries, increases, decreases, extremal values, linear and exponential growth; 11 draw graphs of a number of simple functions (also with the use of ICT); 12 describe changes and compare with the help of difference quotients; 13 solve problems in which a functional relationship has been indicated, and interpret that solution (if necessary, with the help of ICT). 3 StatisticsThe pupils are able to: 14 explain the importance of the representative character of a random sample to formulate statistical conclusions about the population, with the use of examples; 15 calculate the mean and the standard deviation of statistical data, using ICT; 16 use the mean and the standard deviation as characteristics of a normal distribution. The pupils: 17 * are critical about the use of statistics in the media. Attitudes have been indicated by* in the margin, for checking by the inspectorate. |
